MG ZS EV Unveiled in India | Lets Get Electrified!
After the Grand Success of the Hector SUV, MG Motors India has now finally unveiled its second product for India, and it isn't a conventional car, it's an EV which can revolutionize the Electric Vehicle market in our country. The MG ZS EV has been unveiled in India and it is India's First Pure Electric Internet SUV.
The Electric SUV comes with an electric motor which churns out 143bhp and 353Nm and can take the car from 0-100kmph in just 8.5 seconds. It gets a 44.5kWh liquid-cooled Lithium-ion battery that claims to deliver a range of 340kms/charge. It is an ultra-high-density battery pack and gets an IP-67 certified rating too, which means it is water-resistant up to 1 metre. The EV gets three types of driving modes and three types of regenerative braking too.
MG Motors came up with various types of charging solutions too. MG India will provide an onboard cable with the ZS EV that can be plugged into a wall socket but it takes 16-18hours for a full charge. MG will also set up a 7.4kW AC Fast Charger at owners' home/office and it will take around 6-8hours for a full charge. While the most interesting charging solution is that the ZS EV can be charged from 0-80% of charge in just 50 minutes via a 50kW DC Fast Charger. The British Carmaker is setting up a DC Fast Charging network at select MG dealerships in India and it will also introduce charging facility on the go via a roadside assistance service.
MG Motor India has also revealed its i-Smart EV 2.0 which is used in the ZS EV and it's an updated version of Hector's infotainment system. It gets a 20.32cms touchscreen with Android Auto as well as Apple Car Play connectivity and comes with an embedded sim-card for internet connectivity and also has the ability to connect to an external WiFi network or hotspot. The updated system gets a new graphic interface and features real-time maps with charging station locator, music from Gaana app, weather by Accuweather and it will also allow users to check crucial data such as battery range & level and more.
MG has also added some unique features like the ZS EV has a CO2 saver feature which displays the amount of carbon dioxide the owners are saving in real life, and it also comes equipped with an inbuilt PM 2.5 air filter in the cabin to maintain healthy indoor air quality. The Electric SUV also gets a large panoramic sunroof to add a lot of airy feel inside the cabin.
The ZS EV gets a host of safety features too. It gets disc brakes on all four wheels along with ABS, EBD, brake assist, 6 Airbags with 3-pointed seat belts and seat belts reminder for all passengers, tyre pressure monitoring system, heated ORVM's, electric parking brake, cruise control, reverse parking sensors with camera, hill start assist, hill descent control and electronic stability control.
The MG ZS EV will be officially launched in India in January 2020 and initially, it will be restricted to just five metropolitan cities - Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad. The production for the ZS EV will begin later this month at the company's Halol plant in Gujarat. It is expected to be priced between Rs.20-25 lakhs Ex-showroom and will rival against the Hyundai Kona Electric.
