Maruti Suzuki ALTO 800 VXI+ Launched | India's Most-Selling Hatch Now Gets A Touchscreen!


ALTO, a small car which has redefined the definition of small yet practical affordable family car in India for years. Maruti Suzuki has launched the Alto for the first time in India in the year 2000 and since then it has been one of the most selling cars of India with over 38 lakh units already sold in a course of 19 years. Maruti has been updating the Alto series from time to time, and this time they have launched the range topping version VXI+ trim for the recently updated Alto 800.

The New VXI+ trim of the Alto 800 is priced at Rs.3.80 lakhs Ex-showroom Delhi, which is around 13,000 rupees dearer than the previous top model VXI trim. The Car was updated early this year with revised exterior looks and interior layouts and it was equipped with modern safety features too. The New VXI+ trim gets a Suzuki's Latest Smartplay Studio Infotainment system which includes a 7.0 inch touchscreen that is compatible with both Android Auto as well as Apple CarPlay, and Bluetooth Connectivity too. First time car buyers will be more than happy to own a set of wheels in budget equipped with a modern media interface.

Except the addition of this new infotainment system, the car is same as before and it doesn't gets any mechanical or cosmetic enhancements. The Alto 800 was one of the first Maruti cars to get a BS6 Compliant Engine and it is powered by a 800cc, three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 47bhp with 69Nm, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It aslo gets factory fitted CNG on the lower variants.
The other features on the VXI+ trim includes dual-tone interiors, manual A/C with heater, remote locking, power steering and front power windows. It gets safety features such as ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, seat-belt reminders, speed alert system and dual front airbags.
Maruti Suzuki has been able to sell record number units of Alto every month since years due to its affordability, easy-to-maintain nature, and great after sales service support. Currently, the Alto 800 competes against the likes of Renault Kwid and Datsun RediGo in the Indian Market.
