2020 Ford Endeavour to get a 2.0L bi-turbo BS6 diesel engine.

American car manufacturer Ford Motor Company's Indian Subsidiary has updated the highly popular SUV Ford Endeavour with a minor facelift last year. And now Ford India is gearing up to launch the 2020 Ford Endeavour in India to comply with the upcoming BS6 emission norms. Ford will launch the 2020 Endeavour with a BS6 compliant diesel engine in March this year.
Rumours suggest that the upcoming 2020 Ford Endeavour will ditch the current 2.2L and 3.2L diesel engines and instead get the international-spec 2.0L bi-turbo diesel engine with a 10-speed auto box. This seems quite possible because upgrading two high capacity diesel engine to comply with newer emission norms will be a colossal task which will require a huge amount of investment. Also if the current engines are made BS6 compliant it will result in a massive price hike with prices increasing about 2-5 lakh rupees. Recently Toyota ditched the 2.8L diesel engine in India which powers Innova Crysta and Fortuner and Ford can also do the same to keep the costs in check.

Talking about the current BS4 Endeavour, it gets a 2.2L oil burner that produces 160bhp & 385Nm of peak torque and is available both with a 6-speed manual and an automatic gearbox. It also gets a 3.2L diesel unit that churns out 200bhp & 470Nm of peak torque mated only to an automatic gearbox. The former 2.2L engine powers only to the front wheels while the latter 3.2L engine channels power to all the four wheels.
The New 2.0L bi-turbo diesel engine internationally produces 210bhp & 500Nm of peak torque, mated to Ford's new 10-speed automatic gearbox that was co-developed with General Motors. This engine if brought will comply with the new BS6 emission norms, however, Ford India hasn't confirmed anything officially yet.

Talking about the changes, we don't really expect any addition of features or any cosmetic updates as it is already a well-equipped car and recently got a facelift too. The Endeavour currently is sold in India in three variants with prices ranging between Rs 29.2-34.7 lakhs Ex-showroom. The BS6 compliant version will charge a slight premium cost and will lock horns with Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu MUX, Skoda Kodiaq and Mahindra Alturas G4.
