Ather 450X Electric Scooter launched in India, priced from Rs 85,000, but there is a catch!

Bengaluru based start-up company Ather Energy has today expanded its portfolio by launching the more powerful version of its Ather 450 electric scooter called the Ather 450X. The Ather 450X has been launched in India to rival the likes of Bajaj Chetak Electric and TVS iQube Electric scooter. However, the company has also announced that the sales of the standard Ather 450 will be terminated in a few months but Ather will continue providing OTA updates to these owners.
The Ather 450X has been launched in India at an Ex-showroom Bangalore price of Rs 99,000, however, in Delhi, it will cost Rs 85,000 Ex-showroom due to subsidies by the state government. But there is a catch, and the catch is that this is the base price for the Ather 450X and the owners will have to pay an additional Rs 1,699 (Plus) or Rs 1,999 (Pro) as a subscription service each month.

The Ather 450X can also be purchased without the subscription plan for Rs 1.49 lakhs and Rs 1.59 lakhs Ex-showroom Bengaluru, for the Plus and Pro variant respectively. However, this doesn't include the cost of the Ather connect pack that's needed for OTA updates. Also, buying without the subscription package doesn't give access to the free fast-charging Ather Grid network. The Subscription packs guarantee OTA updates, fast-charging network, unlimited battery warranty (3 years without a subscription) and more.
The Ather 450X is now available in three color shades: grey, green, and white. The 450X now gets a 2.9kWh lithium-ion battery coupled with a 6kW electric motor that churns out a maximum power of 6kW and a peak torque of 26Nm. The e-scooter also gets four different riding modes: Eco, Ride, Sport, and new high-performance Warp mode. Ather claims a 0-40 kmph sprint in just 3.3 seconds while the top speed is rated at 80 kmph.

The 450X comes with a claimed riding range of 116 km per charge while the real-life range is rated at 85 km on a full charge. The scooter can be fast-charged at a rate of 1.5 km per minute while it takes 3hour 35minutes to attain 80 percent and 5hour 45minutes to get to 100 percent from zero.
The Smart Ather electric scooter also comes equipped with a 7.0-inch touchscreen instrument cluster powered by a Snapdragon Quadcore processor. It comes with 4G LTE SIM card, WiFi, Bluetooth connectivity and also offers Android Open Source with map navigation, on-board diagnostics, over-the-air updates, etc.
