Upcoming Renault Kiger (HBC) Compact SUV spied for the first time.

Renault India had a great calendar year 2019 as it was the only auto manufacturer in the country to register positive YoY growth with a growth rate of 8%. All thanks to the Triber MPV which offers great value for your money, the facelifted Kwid which looks like a proper micro SUV and the updated Renault Duster. The above-mentioned trio helped the French carmaker to make a strong impact in the Indian Car Market, amidst the market slowdown.
Renault India is now all charged up and they have big ambitions for the year 2020. The carmaker has already announced that it will now focus only on petrol-powered vehicles as the oil burner will be ditched out, post BS6 emission norms kick-in. Renault has recently discontinued the people carrier Lodgy MPV and the fate of its flagship SUV Captur is also in danger as it doesn't perform well in terms of sales.

However, Renault is planning to introduce a slew of affordable, feature-packed and exciting cars that would please the Indian Car Buyers. Renault will first launch its BS6 range of cars ahead of the April 2020 deadline and the Triber MPV will also be offered with an auto-box. But the most exciting product launch will be the Renault HBC sub-compact SUV which will be showcased in a near to production form at the Upcoming 2020 Auto Expo.
Renault HBC compact SUV is most likely to be named Renault Kiger and will share its underpinnings with Triber's CMF-A+ platform. The upcoming compact SUV has been spied testing for the first time on Indian roads. The test mule is fully camouflaged and it looks like a proper crossover with high ground clearance, 16-inch alloys, body cladding all around and roof rails on top. On the front, we can see that it gets a split headlamp layout and the headlamps placed below seem to be a tri-projector layout. The side profile houses new alloys while the rear gets a wiper and a shark-fin antenna.

On the engine front, the Kiger will be powered by a 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine that will produce close to 95PS of power and will be available both with a 5-speed manual and an automatic gearbox. The same engine will also be introduced in Triber MPV. The interior dashboard layout will be borrowed from the Triber, however, we do expect the addition of some more features. Renault Kiger will be launched in India in H2 2020 and is expected to be priced between Rs 6-10 lakhs Ex-showroom to take on the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV 300.
