GWM ORA R1 EV makes India Debut at the 2020 Auto Expo.
India’s biggest Automotive Extravaganza, the Auto Expo 2020 has already begun. The Auto Manufacturers have already fastened their seat belts and are showcasing a wide range of exciting and interesting products at the Delhi Expo. The year 2020 also marks the beginning of a new decade, a decade in which most OEMs will transition towards green mobility. This year at the Auto Expo we saw a wide variety of EVS ranging from micro EVs to super cool EVs like Mahindra Funster. But India is a price-sensitive market and so GWM from China is bringing its ORA R1 EV at the Expo, which is touted as the most affordable electric car in the world.
The ORA R1 is claimed to be the world’s cheapest electric car and it does seem to be interesting. The ORA R1 is a fully electric hatchback with retro looks and modern features. It gets a very neat look with minimal design elements inside and out. It is powered by a 35kW electric motor that belts out 48PS of max power with 125Nm of peak torque right from the word go. It is claimed to do 0-50kmph in 5.6 seconds. The motor gets assisted with a 33kWh Lithium-ion battery with a range of around 351kms per charge. The car takes 10 hours to charge via an AC charger while a DC fast charger can juice it up to 80% in just 40 minutes.
