Highly Anticipated Suzuki Jimny Showcased For The First Time In India.

India's Largest Car Manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has showcased an SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo that needs no introduction at all. It is the all-new fourth generation Maruti Suzuki Jimny that has made its Global debut in mid-2018. The fourth-gen Suzuki Jimny has been showcased for the first time in India and it has been one of the highly anticipated SUVs that the enthusiasts have been craving for a really long time.

The Suzuki Jimny is a very capable utility vehicle with its compact dimensions. It is built on a body-on-frame platform and has a very lightweight body structure. The Jimny measures 3645 mm in length, 1645 mm in width and 1720 mm in height. It has a ground clearance of 210 mm and gets a wheelbase of 2250 mm. The SUV gets a four-wheel-drive system as standard and has an approach angle of 37-degrees, a departure angle of 49-degrees and a ramp break-over angle of 28-degrees.

The interiors of this vehicle aren't very luxurious and it does shares a lot of equipment with its other siblings. It gets Suzuki's latest SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system, A/C, power windows, push-button start, etc. The SUV is available in 3-door as well as 5-door configuration, however, the 3-door version has tiny seats at the rear which when folded offer good enough cargo capacity.

The Suzuki Jimny is powered by a 1.5-litre K15B series petrol engine that also powers a range of other Maruti cars in India. The engine produces 100bhp and 130Nm of peak torque, mated to a 5-speed MT or a 4-speed AT. It comes with ALLGRIP PRO part-time 4WD, 15-inch tyres and weighs just 1135 kilograms.

The Suzuki Jimny is only built at the brand’s plant in Kosai, Japan, and is exported all over the world. The Euro-spec Jimny comes with safety kits such as six airbags, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, autonomous emergency braking system (AEB), seat-belt reminders and a lane-assist system. The SUV has also received a three-star Euro NCAP rating.

Maruti Suzuki isn't going to launch Jimny anytime soon in India. The SUV has been just showcased at the Auto Expo to seek public reactions and study the viable market condition. But, if launched would you love to go off-road in this compact-SUV?
