MG Gloster Full-size SUV breaks cover at the 2020 Auto Expo.

The Chinese-owned British-originated car manufacturer Morris Garage Motors entered the Indian market in 2019 with its mid-size SUV MG Hector and it was highly appreciated by the Indian audience. The Hector SUV offers good ride-comfort with a plethora of features and a sheer road presence due to its bulky dimensions. But what if someone wants an even big SUV? MG has an answer to this as the carmaker has showcased the MG Gloster Full-size SUV at the ongoing 2020 Auto Expo, and boy-oh-boy it is really humongous.

The MG Gloster SUV has made its official India debut at the Delhi Auto Expo and it will be the third offering from the company in India after Hector and ZS EV. The Gloster SUV is basically a re-badged version of the Maxus D90 SUV sold abroad, but it does get a lot of India-specific changes. It is a gigantic SUV that measures 5005 mm in length, 1932 mm in width, 1875 mm in height, and gets a wheelbase of 2950 mm.

Upfront, it gets a massive angular grille finished in chrome with a big MG logo, all-LED headlamps with LED DRLs, and fog lamps surrounded with chrome. It also gets front parking sensors. The SUV gets a very neat design and features a large glasshouse along with roof-rails and it runs on 19-inch wheels wrapped around diamond-cut alloys. The rear profile is also quite simple but gets all-LED taillights along with dual exhaust pipes and a big GLOSTER logo embossed on the tailgate.

MG has not officially revealed the types of equipment that will be on offer for the Indian market but it will get features like adaptive LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, heated wing mirrors, gesture-controlled tailgate, ambient lighting, three-zone automatic air-conditioning, an 8.0-inch multi-information instrument cluster display, connected car-tech, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It will get an extensive list of personalization options as well.

Internationally, the MG Gloster is powered by a  2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that churns out 224PS of power, mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. However, in India, the company might introduce its own in-house-developed 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel that delivers 218PS and 480Nm of torque.

The MG Gloster SUV will be officially launched in India around the festive season of this year and is expected to be priced around Rs.40-45 lakhs, Ex-showroom. It will compete against the likes of Mahindra Alturas G4, Ford Endeavour, and Toyota Fortuner.
