Volkswagen Taigun Concept SUV Officially Revealed for India.

Volkswagen India is going to commence its second inning in India christened as India 2.0 project and under this strategy, the German car manufacturer will be launching multiple India-specific cars at competitive prices to attract the Indian Car Buyers. The first car under this project is the Upcoming Skoda Vision IN mid-size SUV (belongs to VW group), which will be followed by the Volkswagen Taigun Concept SUV.

The Volkswagen Taigun Concept SUV is a retweaked version of the T-Cross SUV sold abroad. It will be based on Volkswagen’s India-specific MQB A0 IN platform, the same platform that will also underpin the Skoda Vision IN Concept SUV and a slew of other upcoming VW-group cars.

In terms of styling, the Taigun mid-size SUV follows the same simplistic design philosophy as other Volkswagen's. It has a minimalistic styling approach but gets some beautiful modern elements as well. Upfront, the car gets all-LED headlights, with subtle chrome inserts, skid-plates, and body-cladding all around to make it look rough and tough.

The side profile houses integrated roof-rails, which does look functional, along with simple cuts and lines running across the body. The rear profile of the car looks quite charming with an integrated LED taillamp along with a roof-mounted spoiler. The car also gets faux skid-plates and dual-tone alloy wheels.

On the inside, it will be loaded with a host of features including an all-digital instrument cluster, a large 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and connected car-tech. The interior will also get some funky color accents and will boast of high fit and finish quality.

Coming to the powertrain options, it will be powered by a 1.0L, three-cylinder turbo petrol, and a 1.5L, four-cylinder turbo petrol engine with manual and DSG transmission options. It will be launched either in late 2020 or in early 2021 to rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and others.
