2020 Hyundai Creta Launched In India; Priced From Rs 9.99 lakhs Ex-showroom, Kia Seltos Beware!


Hyundai Motor India Limited has finally launched the most anticipated SUV of the year, the 2020 Hyundai Creta. Hyundai Creta has been one of the most popular and most selling SUVs of recent times and this time it has got a generation change. The new-generation Hyundai Creta looks smashingly bold, gets a plethora of new features, a bunch of powertrain options and has been priced aggressively well.


The 2020 Creta gets a completely new design language and has grown in dimensions compared to its predecessor. It gets a big and bold Hyundai’s signature Cascading grille with new 17-inch diamond-cut alloys and all-wheel disc brakes. It also gets split headlamp and tail-lamp units giving it a more futuristic look. The car also features skid-plates both at the front as well as at the rear, roof-mounted spoiler, roof-rails, and body-cladding all-around to give it an SUV stance.


The 2020 Creta will be sold in a total of 5 trims namely E, EX, S, SX, and SX (O). Also, there will be as many as 14 variants on offer with 5 different sets of powertrain options. The car is available with a plethora of colour options too which includes as many as 10 different colour shades. The car will be available in 8 single tone colours and 2 dual-tone options. Single-tone colours on offer are Mulberry Red, Galaxy Blue, Polar White, Typhoon Silver, Titan Grey, Phantom Black, and Lava Orange while the dual-tone colour options are White with Black roof and Orange with Black roof.


The new-gen Creta gets a massive panoramic sunroof along with a huge 10.25 inch horizontally laid-out touchscreen infotainment system on the dashboard that supports features like Android Auto, Apple Car Play and Hyundai’s Advanced Blue Link connectivity. It sports as many as 54 connected car features. The dashboard gets an-all black or a beige-black combination depending on the variant and it gets an air purifier too. The steering wheel on the 2020 Hyundai Creta is a four-spoke unit and resembles high-end global models such as the 2020 Hyundai Sonata and the 2020 Hyundai Grandeur.


Talking about the powertrain options, the new-gen Creta borrows its engines from Kia Seltos and gets a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 115bhp/144Nm and 115bhp/250Nm respectively, both mated to a 6-speed manual and an automatic gearbox. Hyundai also offers the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol unit that churns out 140bhp on tap mated to a 7-speed DCT, there is no manual transmission on offer with the turbo petrol engine.


The 2020 Hyundai Creta gets a host of standard safety features which includes anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), rear parking sensors, speed alert system, seat-belt reminders and dual-front airbags. The top trims also get rear parking camera, hill-start assist, hill descent control and electronic stability control (ESC) among others.


Now talking about the price, Hyundai has launched the new-gen Creta with spectacular introductory pricing. The introductory prices start at Rs 9.99 lakhs for the base variant and go up to Rs 17.20 lakhs for the range-topping variant, all prices Ex-showroom India. The 2020 Creta also comes with Hyundai's new optional Wonder Warranty plan - three years/1 lakh kilometres, four years/50,000kms, and five years/40,000kms along with roadside assistance package for the same duration. Now it will be interesting to see how it fares against it arch-rivals like the Kia Seltos, MG Hector, and Tata Harrier.
