Tata Motors Is Developing A Honda City Rival For India; Launch?

The Bombay-based home-grown manufacturer, Tata Motors is going all gun blazing. The Indian carmaker is launching multiple products in India. They started the year 2020 with a grand launch event in Mumbai where they launched the facelifted versions of the Tiago, Tigor, Nexon, and the all-new Tata Altroz. Then the company also launched the Nexon EV, Harrier 2020, and showcased a wide range of products at the 2020 Auto Expo. And now Tata Motors is developing a Honda City rival for India.

The Tata Motors sedan that will rival the Honda City and other C-segment sedans will be based on Tata Altroz. The Indian carmaker has started to work on the new C-segment sedan that will be based on the Alfa (Advanced Light Flexible Architecture) platform on which the Altroz hatchback is also made. The new sedan from Tata Motors will take styling inspiration from the E-Vision concept car which made its global debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 2018.

The Tata Motors sedan will be based on the new Impact 2.0 design theme philosophy and is expected to have a sleek profile that will boast of stylish looks with spacious and airy looking interiors as showcased in the E-Vision concept. The powertrain options of the upcoming Tata Sedan are not yet confirmed but we expect Tata to offer petrol and diesel engine options along with an electric powertrain too.

The upcoming sedan from Tata Motors is in its initial phase of development and we have not even seen a single test mule of the car yet on Indian roads. The new Tata Motors Sedan will rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Toyota Yaris, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Vento, and Honda City in India. It is expected to be launched either in 2021 or early 2022.
