New Generation Hyundai i20 Official Images Surfaced Online; Sportier than Ever!

The South Korean Giant Car Manufacturer Hyundai Motor Company will take the wraps off its new-generation Hyundai i20 Premium Hatchback at the upcoming 2020 Geneva Motor Show, which is scheduled to take place from 5th March-15th March 2020. But, just weeks ahead of the official unveiling ceremony, the official images of the third-generation model of the i20 Premium Hatchback have surfaced online revealing how the hatch would look like.

A few weeks ago Hyundai has revealed the official sketches of the i20 hatch and now the real-deal i.e. the production-spec images have come to the surface, and boy-o-boy it looks sportier than ever. The design of the new i20 will be more of an evolution than revolution as the silhouette and overall profile of the new i20 remains the same as its predecessor. However, it looks much sportier than the outgoing model, thanks to the new sharp design.

Upfront, the hatch sports an aggressive styling with diamond-meshed honeycomb-grille finished in gloss black shade and it gets hook-shaped LED DRLs and wrap-around headlights. For the India-spec model, it will most probably get Hyundai's signature cascading grille along with merging headlights, just like the Elantra facelift. The car features certain angular designs and the fog-lamp assembly gets a triangular layout and it gets a sporty-looking dual-tone bumper too.

Coming to the side profile, the car looks much beefier with sharp cuts and creases along the body line. It also gets a dual-tone roof, a sleeker ORVM, and a sporty-looking 16-inch diamond-cut alloys with a unique design. The rear-end of the car gets a sloping roofline along with an integrated spoiler and shark-fin antenna. However, the big highlight is that it gets dual-tone rear-profile, the upper-half being blacked-out, and it gets LED taillamps with Z-shaped elements which again looks quite distinctive and appealing.

The interior of the car hasn't been revealed but the new i20 will get fresh interior with highlights being a completely new dashboard layout with a multi-function steering wheel, an updated touchscreen infotainment system with Blue-link connectivity, digital instrument console, and a host of other features such as cruise control, automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps and up to six airbags.

Coming to the powertrain options, the new i20 will be powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a new 1.5-litre diesel unit, and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. All the engine options will be mated to either a manual gearbox or an automatic transmission.

The 2020 Hyundai i20 will be first unveiled at Geneva Motor Show in the coming weeks and the India launch will take place around June this year. It will sport a price tag of around Rs 6-10 lakhs Ex-showroom to rival against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz, Ford Freestyle, Toyota Glanza and recently launched Tata Altroz.
